AIA Has Grown
To 80,000

Dear Colleagues:

I am very pleased to share news that membership in the AIA has grown to 80,000! Our new AIA colleague is Anne Hee-Sung Choo, AIA, a recently-licensed architect with the firm Flad and Associates of San Francisco. It is especially gratifying that, as we begin to “celebrate the future” and the AIA150, we welcome our newest emerging professional. We will more formally introduce Ms. Choo to you in an upcoming profile in AIArchitect.

What an important first-time milestone in the Institute’s 150 year history. But we have been steadily strengthening our voice since the beginning of the new century, continuing a trend of increasing membership for the AIA which has added almost 10,000 members since 2001. Reaching 80,000 members speaks volumes about the valuable role the local, state, and national AIA plays in the lives of architectural professionals.

As we add Ms. Choo to the AIA roster, allow me on behalf of all AIA component staff, to restate our ongoing commitment to deliver value for the investment in AIA membership.
