CELEBRATION OF ARCHITECTURE COMMITTEE SEEKS NOMINATIONS FOR SPECIAL AWARDS

As part of this year’s “Celebration of Architecture Awards Program”, a number of special awards are being planned and we would like to solicit nominations from our chapter’s membership.  Candidates for these awards may be anyone making significant contributions in design or contributing to the advancement of the built environment in our Chapter area.
Last year, ESTO Photographics received the Celebration of Architecture Award for their contribution to field of architecture through visual media and their continued support of the Westchester Mid-Hudson chapter of the AIA.  "Photography is the lens through which the public looks at architecture.”  Esto was founded in 1966 by Ezra Stoller and is now headed by his daughter, Erica Stoller.  The current outstanding photographers translate architecture into two-dimensional images, which not only document architecture, but are truly works of art.
A special posthumous “Service to the Profession” Award recognized Louis Goodman and was presented to his wife and family at last year’s event.  Mr. Goodman was the long time head of the New Rochelle Building Department. His legacy lives on in all the professional architects, building department officials and community members that he mentored over his years of service.

We are looking for nominations which truly touch our lives and better the communities that we live in. Please forward your recommendations for special awards to Valerie Brown at the Chapter office.

The Celebration of Architecture event will be held this fall at Bard College’s Fisher Performing Arts Center designed by Frank Gehry.

Ray Beeler and Erik Kaeyer (co-chairman, Celebration of Architecture committee)
