Presidents
Viewpoint
Tradition dictates that this is the season for thankfulness; it’s a good tradition. As my time as president of this chapter approaches an end I find more and more to be thankful about. I am thankful for a dedicated Board of Directors who devote their time, talent and treasure to this chapter and then devote some more time. I am thankful for a membership that supports those directors and the programs and events that they plan; there is an ever increasing core of support that I hope will grow the succeeding years. I am thankful for the role of our state and national components as they continue to grow in responsiveness. At the start of my time as your president I hoped that I, the Board of Directors, and the other components would strive to operate in an inverted pyramid of support where our role is in support of you, I hope that in some measure we met that goal.
I am thankful for the opportunity to get to know many more of you at a deeper level. My belief is confirmed that architects are among the brightest and most dedicated individuals in any profession; congratulate yourselves.
Finally, I am thankful to those who’ve gone before me, not only for preparing the way but for their foresight in hiring our executive director, Valerie Brown. The fact that this chapter functions at all is due to her dedication. The military often cites NCO’s as being the true leaders, in which case Valerie is our very own Chief Petty Officer. If the devil is in the details then she has certainly tamed the devil. Please take the opportunity to thank her individually - salute only if you feel compelled.
Again, my sincerest thanks for the opportunity to serve.
Adolph M. Orlando, AIA
